We are working with local farmers on the approximately 2 million sqm. for the Greenhouse Gas emission reduction program called T-VER (Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program.), developed by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) to promote and support all farmers to participate in the GHG emission reduction program and can sell the reduction unit or carbon credit.
In February, with the help of experts from the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, we jointly conducted field surveys with the PlanToys team to begin collecting data on 71 plots with a total area of 2,038,016 sqm. In this project, we employ experts to educate rubber and palm growers to maintain their plantations as sustainable agriculture that does not use chemicals and reduces environmental pollution.
Â
Participating gardens must
- Store carbon in the soil by adding organic materials. Improving agricultural waste management reduction of tillage, agroforestry system, and crop rotation cover crops
- Reduce the use of nitrogen fertilizers and switch to organic fertilizers instead
- Improving water management or irrigation, e.g., alternative wetting and drying cultivation
Participating in the T-Ver program will allow farmers to take care of their garden plots to make them more environmentally friendly and add value to the garden besides harvesting produce as usual. In addition, the carbon credits from participating plantations will be used to deduct PlanToysâ carbon emissions as one of the ways we can go carbon neutral by 2030.
